In January - February 2019 the Gustav Klimt show was hung at the Gabriola Medical Centre, and revisited in May at the Professional Centre Gallery Centre. Five artists took sections of 12x24 canvases and worked together to finish the Composite. It took two months to complete the Woman in Red. The inclusion of the Swarovsky Crystal bling took a number of days to add to the painting.
The "Woman in Red" was created with Iridescent red & turquoise gold leaf for the dress circles and for the snake skin. Silver leaf was also incorporated and gold and silver paint. Judith Madsen created the face panels. The glass bowl the snake is drinking from was painted beautifully by Barb Hague. In deciding on the silver background, we simplified from Klimt's orginal painting. By this time we had started to use Swarovski Crystals and bought about 1000 crystals to apply to the jewelry in both paintings. Klimt used precious gems and fabric woven throughout his paintings. In the "Woman in Red" the designs on the the silver side panels has hundreds of diamond bling weaving throughout his stroke designs. It is difficult to photograph.
